H.E. the 7th Yongzin Ling Rinpoche had
an audience with His Holiness the Dalai
Lama, at Drepung Monastery in Mundgod.
His Holiness offered Rinpoche a khata and congratulated Rinpoche on the achievement
of His Geshe degree.
The 7th Kyabje Yongzin Ling Rinpoche began his two-day Geshe Graduation Ceremony at Drepung Loseling monastery on November 20, 2016, the auspicious holy day of Lhabab Duchen, which honors Buddha’s descent from Tushita heaven. He sat for his Geshe Dhamcha or public debate examination in the presence of the entire Drepung Loseling assembly of monks, Abbotts and ex-Abbots of many monasteries, distinguished scholars and guests. The 103rd Gaden Tri Tipa Rinpoche, Abbott of Drepung Loseling monastery, a representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the CTA Minister of Culture and Religion gave inspiring speeches recognizing Rinpoche’s achievement. Ling Rinpoche also made offerings to the monks of Drepung monastery. The Geshe graduation celebration continued on the following day with a Long Life Ceremony offered to Ling Rinpoche by Drepung Loseling monastery and a ceremony with all guests offering khatas to Rinpoche, which was followed by a luncheon.
Ling Rinpoche then visited and made offerings to monks and nuns at several monasteries in South India after his Geshe Graduation Ceremony. They included Ganden, Sera, Tashi Lhunpo, Gyudmed and Dzongkar Choede monasteries.

Late August & September
Ling Rinpoche visited Toronto, New York and Boston for the first time. The Tibetan communities in these cities gave him a traditional welcome. The Tibetan Canadian Culture Centre, Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Himalayan Elders Project, Tibetan Association of Boston, Kurukulla Center, Prajnopaya at MIT and many other groups organized teachings, initiations, public talks, informal dialogues, audiences, gala dinners and a picnic. Rinpoche visited and blessed several projects, Dharma centers and community halls. He also spoke to the Tibetan community on culture, language and religion, including dialogues with Tibetan youth. Rinpoche gave teachings on the Eight Verses for Training the Mind, Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life and Foundation for All Good Qualities during his visit.

Ling Rinpoche visited Thiksey Monastery and the Shia Mosque with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Thiksey, and other locations in the Leh, Ladakh area. This included meeting with Bakula Rinpoche at Pethup Monastery.
Ling Rinpoche visited Singapore in June to give teachings and initiations. He also met with His Eminence Drikung Kyabgon Rinpoche during his visit there. A multi-day Grand Puja event at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center included Rinpoche bestowing the Manjushri, Thousand Arm Chenrezig and Vajrapani initiations.
He gave three days of teachings on the “Three Principles of the Path” at the Gaden Shartse Dro-Phen Ling Centre.

His busy program ended with a Long Life Puja at Gaden Shartse Dro-Phen Ling centre, in honour of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 81st birthday.
April & May
In May Ling Rinpoche visited and gave the Avalokitesvara & Tara Initiation at the Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement in India.
Ling Rinpoche visited Australia for the first time in April. He was greeted at the Brisbane International airport by H.H. the Dalai Lama’s Representative to Australia, a former Gyume Monastery Abbot, organizers of the Festival of Tibet and representives from the Tibetan community and Dharma centers. While in Brisbane, Rinpoche gave a talk to the Brisbane Tibetan Community and participated in the 8th Annual Festival of Tibet with a teaching on Karmic Imprints and Life after Death. He also blessed a stupa and gave a teaching on the Eight Verses of Training the Mind at the Langri Tangpa Centre in Brisbane.
His Eminence visited Byron Bay to give a teaching on the Heart Sutra and bless the Kalachakra stupa there at Crystal Palace. He then gave an Introduction to Buddhism teaching to the Tibetan community in Sydney, as well as teachings at Rigpa and the Vajrayana Institute in Sydney. Rinpoche continued on to the Sunshine Coast to give a teaching on the Three Aspects of the Path at Chenrezig Institute.
Ling Rinpoche visited the Nechung Kuten, the medium of the new State Oracle of Tibet.
Ling Rinpoche visited and gave a talk at Gaden Choeling Nunnery in Dharamsala during
the annual exam result ceremony.
Ling Rinpoche visited the Tibetan Children’s Village School in Dharamsala at the beginning of their school year. He gave a talk and presented awards to long serving staff members.
Ling Rinpoche held the annual meeting with the Nechung State Oracle of Tibet in Dharamsala.
