On 3rd February, H.E. Ling Rinpoche visited the ancient Kande Vihara in Aluthgama, accompanied by Ven Walathara Subhuthi Nayake Thero and Ven Wimala Thero. This temple was built more than 200 years ago during the time of the Kotte Kingdom and is famous for its historic Vishnu Chamber. The Deity Vishnu (who is also called Upulwan) is prominent in Sri Lanka and is considered the chief custodian Buddhist deity who protects the Buddha Sasana in Sri Lanka. It is said that Shakyamuni Buddha had instructed him to do so. The local village people there kindly offered lunch (Dana) to Rinpoche and the monks from neighboring temples.
